Lots of good stuff to do in DC this weekend.
Friday
“We Fought The Big One” – DC’s favorite post-punk/shoegazer DJ night at the Marx Cafe. Run by my good buddies DJ Trickster and DJ 5-Year Plan. The tunes start spinning at 10 and go til 3. No cover charge.
Autechre at the Black Cat – these guys were around before the whole IDM scene, they reigned supreme while it was at its height and they are the last band standing now that folks have come to their senses about how silly “Intelligent Dance Music” sounds as a genre name. To my knowledge they’ve never played in DC before, so this show is a biggie.

Saturday
Alcian Blue at DC9 – these local shoegazer heroes scored 8th on my best sets of 2004 list. They’re playing DC9 to support their bitchin’ new EP “Fall Behind”
