So Greta and I started watching "Tour of Duty" season 1 on DVD tonight. She's never seen the show before and I thought it'd be cool to watch an episode a week to introduce her to one of my favorite shows as a kid.
Re-watching the pilot episode tonight was awesome. Greta seemed to dig it, altho she got a little sad when Lawrence gets it. Which is understandle because Lawrence was a nice guy and his death scene would be kindof shockingly visceral even by today's standards.
"TOD" was a great show, especially for when it was made, in the era of wise-cracking PI shows and prime time soaps. It is so un-television-like, it feels much more like a long movie than a tv show, which was very unusual back in the 80's, but seeing it now its almost impossible not to link it up as an ancestor of some of the more cinematic shows of today. If you never seen this show, I highly recommend renting the first season.
