I repeat, Jack Higgins is the fucking man. I just finished reading "Hell is Always Today" the third Nick Miller detective novel. I have to say it was the best of the three. Not only was it a great twisting crime novel, this book also hinted at that emerging Jack Higgins charm that would go on to make novels like "The Eagle Has Landed" and "Exocet" so classic.
This book had such a great final showdown, ah man, only Higgins could have a washed-up heavy-weight champ fighting a serial killer karate expert atop a rain-slicked steeple roof. Classic!
"Hell is always today, Jack, never tomorrow. Have you ever noticed that?"
"It's all that keeps a good copper going," Brady said and they went down the steps together.
