I think at the very least, if someone is a vegetable and they or their family insist on keeping them alive with machines for years and years, at the very least society should be allowed to harness their internal energy Matrix-style. All of these vegetables could be powering cars or the lights of the hospitals they are being kept alive in. Wow, there is a thought, what if they were powering the very machines that were keeping them alive? Kind of like a human-coma potato alarm-clock. (nice!) I'm gonna go file a patent!
